Well...the title says it all. Nothing much going on in my neck of the woods. I have a sore throat, I'm coughing and my allergies are kicking my butt! I feel like a whole lot of crappola and I'm all drugged up and nothing has helped. I have such a busy week at work I cannot afford to be sick!! So needless to say, I'm irritated. :) Tonights topic: MUSIC. I love a lot of different genres of music, but tonight I'm into very deep emotional tunes. I hate that this genre is called "emo". Two bands that have been sucking me deep into their melodic riffs are "Chessie" and "The Appleseed Cast". "Chessie" has no singing in it, it is music that swallows you whole and takes you for a ride. Listen to them and think about moments in your life that you never wish to forget--good or bad. "The Appleseed Cast" has singing, but it's not crazy and not overpowering enough to take away from the actual music. Both bands have the ability to take me on crazy memory journeys and damn them for making me think about my life. :) If you have not heard of these bands or their music you should check them out...that is if you like "emo".

Thank You Angelina & Jenn!
Dear friends,
Thank you very much for turning me on to "Skinny Bitch". I got the book last night and COULD NOT put it down. I feel like I've known all that I read last night for some time but maybe just did not want to face the music. It has given me hope; it has enlightened me. I have begun my venture into the "vegan" world. No more fish. No more eggs. No more cheese. I too want to be a skinny bitch and I am tired of putting crap in my mouth and into my body. Lets all be skinny bitches together!!
Smooches!

Moving Forward
I feel like I can finally give a huge sigh of relief. This weekend, something momentous happened. Perhaps for some, it will seem silly...but for a couple who has struggled to find the "right" location for their wedding, it has meant the world. It happened on Sunday. We drove to San Clemente and took a mile walk on the trail by the beach...we held hands and talked. It was wonderful. So many things came to me. It had been a little over five years and through all of our trials and tribulations, I realized I loved him more than ever. We have both made mistakes with each other and have grown because of them, but we have grown together--which is the important thing. On that day we found our wedding location. It is the San Clemente Historic Cottage and it's perfect. It's kind of secluded at the end of a long road surrounding the camp grounds. The ocean and the sky are in view at the location and when I walked in to see it I smiled so hard I knew deep down in my heart this was the place I had been searching for. Edgar was thrilled. The location is more than I can ask for. I have contacted parks and recreation and will be scheduling a walk-through with them soon in order to put down our deposit. The other exciting thing is that we have officially settled on a date. We are going to get married on Aug. 14, 2009. This is also a Friday and Edgar's 28th birthday. It all worked out perfectly. Ed has a hard time remembering dates...so we both agreed that if we get married on his birthday he won't ever be able to forget our anniversary. I'm glad we waited this long to find this place. It's as if everything has happened on purpose. Yes we will have been engaged for three years next August, but I don't care...in fact it's giving me the time to plan everything meticulously. "All GOOD things come to those who wait" has never meant more to me than it does right now.

So Many Things...Oh and I Suck at Blogging!
Alright, I am so behind on this...I feel so bad...but sometimes I'm just so tired I don't even feel like typing...or Edgar is hogging the computer because he's working. I need a laptop. This entry is going to be all over the place...prepare yourself, for this is my actual state of mind--chaos.
First off, the conference in Monterey was AWESOME! It was sooo cool to have a hotel room all to myself for a change. The Hyatt was insanely modern and expensive...it's a good thing the university reimburses us otherwise I don't think I would have gone. I got a lot of time to myself. I woke up early to enjoy my showers and took my time getting ready in the morning; I also fell asleep with the tv timer on. :) It was great, a wonderful get-away. It was also nice to hear similar gripes about students from other advisors, it made me feel like I wasn't going crazy. It was really windy over there and I did not pack appropriately. I was freezing and I was getting headaches because of the cold. I didn't take any pictures because I suck. I have one that my other friend/co-worker took, but it's on my comp at work and I look a hot mess. Will you get to see it? Um no.
June 29th I turn 27 years old. Holy crap. Where is the time going? It's kind of affecting me. You know how when you're like 17 people ask you, "So where do you see yourself at 25?" and you say all these great things like, "in a house, married,...blah blah blah" well I don't have any of that right now. I know it sounds stupid..but as more time passes by, the more I find myself wanting to start a family. It even scares me as I always used to say I wouldn't be ready until I was 30...but how do I know that? I don't know if it's just hormones or my biological clock is ticking, but I'm also paranoid that after being on the pill for 11 years it's going to be harder than hell to get pregnant. In fact it scares me shitless.
Ay, and the wedding plans? What wedding plans? With the economy, gas prices, food prices and all prices going up, it's been really hard to save lately. I can't make up my mind about what I want...except that my dream was always to get married by the beach...Laguna, Hawaii...I don't know but I haven't found my "dream place" yet if there is such a thing.
OH, and another gripe. For the longest time I had my heart set on having my princess solitaire set into a bridal set...but now that the price of gold has gone up we're going to pay an arm and a leg for something that months ago didn't cost as much...it's so frustrating...sometimes I just want to cry. Why does the world have to revolve around money?!
And...I'm way overweight. I finally, finally made myself workout today...I went back to Turbo Jam...and I'll say it again, that woman kicks my arse. She's a tough cookie and inspires me like no other. Will I see her again Friday? I hope so..if not then Saturday. Either way, I will make time for her. I feel great, and it's all mental. I DO NOT WANT TO BE FAT FOR MY 27TH BIRTHDAY! I have a month to lose at least a couple of pounds. I can do it, I'm just going to have to be disciplined which is going to be hard because I don't have much of that. :P
Okay, that's my randomness for today. Sorry its so long, but I haven't blogged in like centuries. Happy Hump Day!

Monterey Here I Come!

For 3 says I am going to be attending the UC Academic Advisors Conference in Monterey, California hosted by UC Santa Cruz. We are leaving on Southwest Airlines tomorrow morning and coming back on Friday evening. I can't wait for this getaway. Sure I'll be at a conference and I'll be learning and networking, but I've been dying for a change in scenery. I'm very excited about traveling with my co-workers and just having an awesome time. :D

Progress Update
The Good: Yesterday I got myself to the gym. I attended a hip hop dance class. It was tons of fun, but to be honest I was a little nervous. I mean I love dancing, but our instructor looked to be a real bona fide choreographer, I wasn't sure I could keep up. But I surprised myself and I did fairly well in memorizing the routine he gave us after I just let loose and decided to dance. It was a whole lot of fun...I was sweating and I was out of breath. I think the Latin Dance class kicks my butt a little more...but I am sore today and it feels good.
The Bad:I couldn't sleep for the life of me last night...when I finally hit a comfortable sleep it was 4AM and then my alarm went off at 5AM. I really want to go to the Latin Dance class tonight, but I think I'm going to have to head home and sleep instead. I feel like if I close my eyes at my desk right now I will fall asleep. Wow...this sucks!

I'm Lazy.
I keep forgetting to blog...
The workout schedule is sucking, but I'm not giving up. I have to do some serious grocery shopping and I just brought a new vegetarian cook book in hopes to start eating healthier. Every little thing helps. The other thing I am facing is this lack of motivation. Things are going really bad at my job, and it's always been hard for me to separate my work life from my home life. The negativity stemming from my work environment is bleeding into my home life. I'm kind of sad and feeling down. Exercise always makes me feel better...so I'm continuing to push myself...man why is this so hard? Other people love exercising and they do it daily like brushing their teeth...I wish I was more like that.
