Pleasantly Surprised!

So the other day Edgar came home with a movie rental from Blockbuster. I was a little skeptical, but it turns out the movie was actually pretty darn good. It was "The Hammer" with Adam Corolla. I really enjoyed the movie and thought it was written very well. I was surprised because I was expecting some stupid silly jokes, but it was a really good movie. Turns out "Ozzie" in the movie is Adam's real life friend and that Adam used to work construction before he made it "big". If you haven't seen the movie, you should pick it up, I was pleasantly surprised and you might be too!

Vegan Finds!

So yesterday Edgar and I went over to Trader Joes to pick up something to eat for dinner. We came out with more than we expected, but that's why you shouldn't go grocery shopping on an empty stomach. We stumbled upon the following "good eats":

Turtle Island Foods makes Tofurky Hickory Smoked slices and HOLY MOTHER they are damn good. Edgar and I had sandwiches yesterday and I was in heaven!

Last week we took a trip to Whole Foods, which I think we are going to start doing more often and we found this little treasure:

Vegan Mayonnaise or "Vegenaise" from Follow Your Heart. This stuff is bomb diggity and oh so good for ya! Just wanted to share the latest food finds for those of you fellow Veg Heads. ENJOY!

I Didn't Know...

Today I had an early morning conversation with my mom. Today, after 27 years of being on this earth I barely found out my mother's wedding date. To this very day, I didn't know how or when she got married to my father. I had never thought to ask--as HE was always a sore subject. Turns out they got married on my father's birthday--DEC. 28th. I never knew this, but Edgar and I are planning on getting married on HIS birthday which I thought was kind of interesting. It also turns out they had a small wedding like we are planning. My mom said they had about 25 people at their wedding--we are planning on having about 35. It's insane that I just barely found out this information...but like I said, it's never been a source of happiness for my mom. I'm sure that there was a time that they were happy together, but that was way before I was born and I didn't get to see much of it--I just saw the ugly stuff. It kind of just brought up my own fears of marriage, children and the things that break families apart. I know it's not something I ever want to put my own children through...it just makes getting married that MUCH more serious.

Ok, so because I'm dead today and I'm not working, look at what wonderful kick ass thing I stumbled upon. Because being vegan ain't easy baby, but I'm tryin!!

POST PUNK KITCHEN

WOW...

I know, I'm a lame blogger. I don't update this thing much...lately I just haven't had the time or energy. I'm exhausted right now. I think if I close my eyes I could fall asleep sitting in my chair. I had to work this weekend, along with many other advisors on campus to help with Freshmen Orientation and to help enroll the new students. I am very tired from driving from Irvine to Riverside and then Riverside to Irvine. We spent the night at Edgar's parents house and that was fine, but there's nothing like sleeping in your own bed and I missed my cat. So I'm here on a Monday looking like a zombie after having worked the whole weekend. I thought it was illegal to make someone work a 7 day work week? Oh wait, technically it's a 13 day work week as I am here today and will be working again this Saturday. Jebus help me.

Update: There is Nothing to Update

Well...the title says it all. Nothing much going on in my neck of the woods. I have a sore throat, I'm coughing and my allergies are kicking my butt! I feel like a whole lot of crappola and I'm all drugged up and nothing has helped. I have such a busy week at work I cannot afford to be sick!! So needless to say, I'm irritated. :) Tonights topic: MUSIC. I love a lot of different genres of music, but tonight I'm into very deep emotional tunes. I hate that this genre is called "emo". Two bands that have been sucking me deep into their melodic riffs are "Chessie" and "The Appleseed Cast". "Chessie" has no singing in it, it is music that swallows you whole and takes you for a ride. Listen to them and think about moments in your life that you never wish to forget--good or bad. "The Appleseed Cast" has singing, but it's not crazy and not overpowering enough to take away from the actual music. Both bands have the ability to take me on crazy memory journeys and damn them for making me think about my life. :) If you have not heard of these bands or their music you should check them out...that is if you like "emo".

Thank You Angelina & Jenn!

Dear friends,

Thank you very much for turning me on to "Skinny Bitch". I got the book last night and COULD NOT put it down. I feel like I've known all that I read last night for some time but maybe just did not want to face the music. It has given me hope; it has enlightened me. I have begun my venture into the "vegan" world. No more fish. No more eggs. No more cheese. I too want to be a skinny bitch and I am tired of putting crap in my mouth and into my body. Lets all be skinny bitches together!!

Smooches!
